FBCWB Rabbit Hunt on Thursday morning
Just phoned our Chapter Director and his assistant to see if they wanted to help me take out some rabbits Saturday morning, three days before the close of the season. They both wanted to redeem the time and scurry up some rabbits tomorrow morning AND possibly Saturday morning. Jeff Riggs and Barry Singer are chomping at the bit to run their beagles especially early in the morning with dew on the ground. It seem that the dogs pick up the scent in tracking the rabbits when the ground is still wet with dew.
A pack of coyotes are HOLD UP about 30 yards away on the bottom land down by the creek. When the tornado warning siren sounded last week the coyotes chimed in with a racket that told me I must "Protect my person and my property" from these predators. Actually, I just like seeing these varmints roll when shot on the run. And I do have five grandchildren that love to hang out in the back yard. My neighbor up the road has been helping me get my varmint caller ready to use early Thursday morning to draw those canines close enough in to bead down on. I have a pair of mukluks from Alaska that are made from Alaskan coyotes. Really thick, nice fur. These in Georgia may not have merchanible hides but it is sure a lot of fun taking them out while enjoying fellowship with other sportsmen. Does anyone want to purchase some salted down pelts? I probably need to wait until tomorrow to see if I score some pelts.

Re: FBCWB Rabbit Hunt on Thursday morning
We kicked up about 10 or 12 rabbits and shot four. The coyotes continue to live another day to thrill another hunter. However, I just fixed my electronic varmint caller so plan to do some night hunts for coyotes. Where are all these coyotes coming from? It seems that there were never any in metro Atlanta when I was coming up through the years. I saw one in our side pasture some time back and eased outside with my 7MM Remington. As I came up under the porch stairwell I could not see him where he last stood so I stepped out into the open. He spotted me from about 35 yards away then began to run. I tried to bead down on him with the scope rather than look through the iron sites when I attempted to shoot. Needless to say he got away.
I guess that is why they call them "Wiley" Coyotes!

Coyotes are a huge issue here. Rule 1 here is no matter what you hunt...if you see a 'yote ....kill it!!!!

Love Hare Hunting With Hounds
Love hearing those hounds. Started hunting hare with my dad when very young on the farm over our hounds. Then I became a pro trainer of Versatile Hunting Dogs. Still get a thrill watching hounds pushing a hare over snow deep in the woods.
