Missed Opportunities and Second Chances
I was running out of time to keep a promise I had made to our banquet committee to provide some venison for our Wild Game Tasting. This morning as I was sitting in my blind, I ask God to bring a nice doe past my position so I could save face. There was just two days left in the Michigan Muzzle loading season and this would end my hunting. About 7:30 AM, just as it was getting light enough to shoot I looked up and saw the body of a deer, but could not tell what it was as it's head was behind a tree. Not wanting to shoot an immature deer I waited for it to reveal its gender. After what seemed like a long time (probably was just a few minutes) this deer quickly turned and rapidly walked away. It was then that I saw the antlers and began to get a bit sick as it disappeared from sight. I said to myself, "You just missed a wonderful opportunity to put one down that would qualify for the wall. I reached for my Primos deer bleat and began to ask God if He would give me another chance by bringing that wonderful buck back. In two or three minutes he appeared once again and walked to within a respectable shooting distance. I quickly thanked the Lord, put the crosshairs on his shoulder and squeezed the trigger. He went down for the count. I thanked God for a second opportunity and this nice 8 point is now at the taxidermist.
This is not the first time God has given me a second chance. I have often messed up in life and missed opportunities. When I have asked for His forgiveness and His help, He has responded with that second chance.
How about you? Have you missed opportunities? Maybe it was an opportunity to tell your wife that you love her; hug your kid or tell a friend about the love of Christ. Ask God for a second chance. He will respond just as He did to Jonah in the Old Testament. Jonah 2:2-3 & 3:1-3 In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry. The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh and proclaimed the message. (NIV)
Maybe you have walked away from God sometime in your life. If so, you can turn around and come back to Him. Ask God for that second chance that He is waiting and willing to give you. Acts 3:19 Now change your mind and attitude to God and turn to Him so He can cleanse away your sins and send you wonderful times of refreshment from the presence of the Lord. (LNT)
God wants to give you a second chance.

Missed Opportunities and Second Chances
Wow. What a great hunt and thanks for the second chance scripture. Many of us needed that second chance not only in deer hunting or whatever we are doing. But God does forgive us when we ask Him! Great Buck.

Great Buck in Michigan!
Michigan seems to consistently produce huge free ranging whitetails. What is the best time of the hunting season for an out of state hunter to come to Michigan in order to score a nice buck with a large body and respectable rack?
